Why Carpathia?
Background
Since 2007, Carpathia Hosting has assisted Saba in providing global 24x7x365 monitoring and support, comprehensive Saba application management services and scalable SaaS solutions from Carpathia’s state-of-the art data centers across the globe. As Saba’s SaaS solutions continued to grow and adoption totaled to more than 4 million users worldwide, the company wished to continue to better support the data privacy requirements from its customer base in both EMEA and Canada.
Challenge
Historically, Carpathia Hosting deployed all of Saba’s cloud customers in its highly secure Vault Data Center in Dulles, VA. While the company liked the convenience of hosting all of its data in one facility, Canadian and EU data privacy laws and practices require companies to keep their data in-country.
Approach
In order to remain complaint with Canada’s laws, Saba required the use of Carpathia’s secure and compliant Toronto facility to store all data and systems for its Canadian SaaS customers. As Carpathia’s first international data center, the Toronto facility is designed to deliver enterprise managed hosting services including dedicated servers, virtual servers, network, storage, backup and system monitoring. In the EU, Saba chose Carpathia’s secure and compliant Amsterdam Data Center to store all data and systems for Saba’s EU SaaS customers. Because Saba was traditionally a Vault customer and all other SaaS data is housed there, Carpathia built the solution to allow all data to be easily managed from the Vault.
Solution
Through Carpathia, Saba is uniquely positioned as a data custodian, serving Canadian customers where strict privacy laws, including the 1980 Privacy Act, dictate careful treatment of customer data. The same holds true for Saba’s customers in the EU, where Safe Harbor compliance is a requirement. Carpathia expanded its data center footprint into the EU market for Saba Cloud deployments there. Saba’s infrastructure is now capable of delivering FISMA, DIACAP and HIPAA compliant services to meet the stringent security standards required by many federal agencies and commercial customers. By using the same model globally, Carpathia is helping to optimize Saba both financially and technically. Through Carpathia, Saba is standardizing on a unified global model.
“We’ve been very pleased with Carpathia’s understanding of our global compliance requirements and commitment to meeting the needs of our customers, many of whom are operating in a highly regulated environment. It was strategic for us to choose Carpathia as we expanded the Saba Cloud globally.”
